Nation’s eyes upon Texas in light of floods

"Just A Scoopful" - Jerry Nine

Sunday night in our area if you were in the right spot you might have received a sprinkle or a few miles away perhaps a decent rain, but mostly little or none; however, one received 2.3 inches. But we are thankful for what we got at various places. Our area was showing signs of dry weather again. But if you live where I do you definitely have to have faith and hope.

Recently, fat cattle in the South traded $222 to $224 with a few fat cattle in Kansas selling for $225. One feedlot that sells fat cattle on the grid said it had averaged $6 per hundredweight over the cash fat price for the past several weeks. Part of that is the fact operators are feeding their fat cattle longer days than some giving them a better grade and yield. Whatever the case whoever thought we would be selling fat cattle at the prices and feeder cattle and calves as if there will never be another bad day.

July 4 started out with a great celebration, but Texas soon learned that in the middle of the night that could soon turn into a huge disaster. There were lots of heroic efforts in that flood with some people losing their life in the process. The Guadalupe River near Kerrville rose from 20 to 26 feet. As of Monday morning the death toll was at 81 and is expected to rise because an unheard of amount of rain fell in a short time and people had only seconds and, sometimes no time, to make the right decision.

Some made the best decision they could and were still trapped. Our hearts and prayers go out to all affected. Some politicians are already throwing around blame while others are trying to help. Anytime a young person loses their life it is very troubling. However, I feel the only way you will ever understand that is to get to heaven and see it from God’s eyes.

After church last Sunday as I was walking out the preacher was shaking everyone’s hand. One young boy told the preacher, “Dad must have really enjoyed you sermon, cause when it was over Dad said ‘Hallelujah.’”

I am inviting several friends over to my house, this evening. We used to play cards visit and laugh and have a great time. Now I will just watch everyone stare at their phones.

It’s been six months since I joined the gym to lose weight. But I am going there in person tomorrow to see what the problem is.

We had a college get-together last weekend. It was a lot of fun. But I’m not sure why most of them sent their mom or dad there instead of coming themself.
