Janel: Pretty nice wheat fields

Western Kansas – It’s now July 10 and we just got rained out but it’s okay because we just finished here! That’s great news! We had five combines trying to get the last field cut and the sky was changing to the darkest blue. Everyone combining was worried we wouldn’t finish in time but did with about five minutes to spare. The storm was awfully close! The wind hit first then the rain. It wasn’t so bad because we were so happy we finished!

We cut every day we were here and kept busy. I love it here because we get to cut pretty nice wheat fields. The yields were good even though the droughts been existent this past year. We harvested both dryland and irrigated wheat. Overall, it was a decent crop.

I’m looking forward to moving north and catching back up to the wheat harvest! There’s crews moving north to Nebraska, South Dakota and Montana. Please everybody be courteous and safe on the roads. Best of luck to all the crews moving north.

Such a beautiful wheat crop to harvest.
It’s really pretty out here in a wheat field.
