High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Aug. 3, reported receipts of 59,257 head compared to 51,780 head a week ago and 55,921 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 22,251 head, 1,320 to 1,675 lbs., 235.00 to 247.00 (244.41); 65 to 80% Choice, 2,812 head, 1,231 to 1,685 lbs., 232.00 to 247.00 (238.46); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,839 head, 1,265 to 1,500 lbs., 235.00 to 236.00 (235.35). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 355 head, 1,400 to 1,475 lbs., 241.00 to 246.85 (244.22); 65 to 80% Choice, 377 head, 1,480 lbs., 240.00; 35 to 65% Choice, 174 head, 1,300 lbs., 240.00. Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 8,406 head, 822 to 1,060 lbs., 380.00 to 390.00 (383.63); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,634 head, 914 to 1,004 lbs., 382.00 to 387.00 (383.97).
