High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Aug. 10, reported receipts of 47,342 head compared to 59,257 head a week ago and 61,134 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 18,256 head, 1,350 to 1,650 lbs., 235.00 to 245.00 (242.89); 65 to 80% Choice, 2,025 head, 1,300 to 1,520 lbs., 233.00 to 245.00 (236.01); 35 to 65% Choice, 571 head, 1,350 to 1,450 lbs., 235.00 to 235.00 (235.00). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 1,473 head, 1,400 to 1,600 lbs., 238.00 to 245.00 (243.74). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 7,145 head, 896 to 1,060 lbs., 375.00 to 385.00 (381.42); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,038 head, 896 to 945 lbs., 378.00 to 384.00 (380.49); 35 to 65% Choice, 53 head, 950 lbs., 374.00.

Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 3,124 head, 1,200 to 1,450 lbs., 233.00 to 245.00 (242.36); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,657 head, 1,200 to 1,407 lbs., 233.00 to 237.00 (235.43); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,034 head, 1,225 to 1,325 lbs., 235.00 to 237.00 (235.22).
