Vine to Wine event set for Sept. 2 in Lubbock

Did you know the Texas High Plains produces about 80 to 85% of the state’s wine grapes? The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Lubbock County invites the public to explore the story of Texas wine at the 4th Annual Vine to Wine, set for Sept. 2 at Adelphos Cellars’ brand-new event center and tasting room.

This year’s event will run from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring wine tastings, light refreshments and an evening of insight from local winemakers and viticulture specialists.

“This will be a fun evening at the stunning new Adelphos Cellars event center,” said Cory Edwards, AgriLife Extension agent for Lubbock County. “With scenic views and a welcoming atmosphere, guests will enjoy learning about the legacy being built by this close-knit team of family and friends.”

Guest speakers include:

  • Jim and Garrett Irwin, Adelphos Cellars
  • Patrick O’Brien and Cristin Kasprzak, AgriLife Extension viticulture specialists

“We want participants to leave with a broader understanding of how Texas grapes become Texas wine,” Edwards said. “It’s a fun, relaxed night with good wine, good conversation, and great company.”

“Our goal is to connect the dots between Texas agriculture and the final product in your glass,” Edwards added. “We want participants to walk away with a deeper understanding of viticulture, winemaking, and the people behind Texas wine.”

Tickets are $40 per person if purchased by Aug. 29. To reserve a seat, visit vinetowine.eventbrite.com. Event-goers may also purchase tickets at the door for $50.
