High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Aug. 17, reported receipts of 47,330 head compared to 47,342 head a week ago and 60,641 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 16,648 head, 1,280 to 1,625 lbs., 232.00 to 246.00 (242.45); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,317 head, 1,375 to 1,550 lbs., 235.00 to 243.00 (238.20); 35 to 65% Choice, 362 head, 1,320 to 1,475 lbs., 235.00 to 236.00 (235.85). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 1,013 head, 1,475 to 1,600 lbs., 241.00 to 244.00 (242.81). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 10,157 head, 853 to 1,088 lbs., 378.00 to 385.00 (382.95); 65 to 80% Choice, 315 head, 956 to 1,040 lbs., 376.00 to 380.00 (377.32). Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 1,177 head, 921 to 1,000 lbs., 384.00 to 386.00 (385.37).

 Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 5,570 head, 1,250 to 1,525 lbs., 238.00 to 245.00 (243.07); 65 to 80% Choice, 677 head, 1,275 to 1,300 lbs., 230.00 to 237.00 (233.99).
