Hay demand light, steady prices in Kansas
During the week ending Sept. 6, hay demand was light, and prices were steady, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Sept. 9.
Hay trade remains slow to moderate. More rain this week continued to make it difficult for producers to get into their fields, with some having crops taken out by hail. There continues to be a lot of forage available from this year and last, and producers are wanting to get rid of inventory. Prices are based on averages and given on a per-ton basis, unless otherwise noted.
