High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Sept. 7, reported receipts of 63,095 head compared to 42,848 head a week ago and 52,630 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 23,991 head, 1,300 to 1,750 lbs., 242.00 to 245.00 (242.62); 65 to 80% Choice, 2,890 head, 1,220 to 1,635 lbs., 238.00 to 243.00 (242.19); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,182 head, 1,300 to 1,659 lbs., 242.00. Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 1,626 head, 1,425 to 1,600 lbs., 243.00 to 246.00 (244.99). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 8,743 head, 837 to 1,069 lbs., 380.00 to 387.00 (383.16); 65 to 80% Choice, 543 head, 993 to 1,024 lbs., 383.00.
