High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Sept. 14, reported receipts of 50,299 head compared to 63,095 head a week ago and 47,942 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 17,420 head, 1,270 to 1,670 lbs., 235.00 to 245.00 (239.25); 65 to 80% Choice, 2,199 head, 1,400 to 1,600 lbs., 238.00 to 240.00 (239.90); 35 to 65% Choice, 255 head, 1,400 to 1,560 lbs., 240.00.  Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 1,184 head, 1,450 to 1,550 lbs., 237.00 to 242.00 (241.64). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 6,252 head, 806 to 1,068 lbs., 373.00 to 382.00 (376.10); 65 to 80% Choice, 327 head, 928 to 970 lbs., 375.00 to 378.00 (377.11). Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 4,502 head, 928 to 1,056 lbs., 378.00; 65 to 80% Choice, 293 head, 960 to 976 lbs., 378.00.

Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 5,666 head, 1,275 to 1,475 lbs., 232.00 to 240.00 (239.21); 65 to 80% Choice, 2,521 head, 1,248 to 1,414 lbs., 240.00; 35 to 65% Choice, 134 head, 1,250 lbs., 240.00.
