What a grass year we have had this summer and even now we are a lot more green than normal. One rancher not far away told me that he had received 8 inches of rain in August. The man is in his 80’s and he said I have never seen a year like this one.
On the cattle futures for October Live cattle they were up 85 cents. But the rest of the live cattle contracts were up 2.17 per hundredweight to $.302 cwt making April the highest month at $240.72 cwt. All feeder cattle contracts were up over $5 cwt for each month.
We still live in the greatest land of all, but we have some evil people and then some that are just plain stupid. We have some people putting on the internet they hope other certain people are killed. And we have others glamorizing socialism. I wish those people would move to a socialist country then maybe they could get a real taste of socialism.
If people promoting that don’t scare you then you and I don’t have much in common. I’m sure the lazy want anything that is handed to them. The welfare department is one area that I would like to help write the rules for. If you are able bodied and too lazy to work then starve.
I hear a lot more talk at the sale barn about calves off the cow and getting sick. With Tuesdays high supposed to be 66 degrees and Saturday’s high supposed to be 91 those swings in the temperature definitely don’t help.
I had some little light weight long weaned thin yearling heifers that weighed 526 pounds going into the feedlot. They were fed 266 days and graded 95.65% choice and prime. 35% were CAB or Certified Angus Beef and netting $9.64 cwt over the market for the week. They were mixed colored but must have had a few good ones on them.
My daughter told me there is a small get together at school tomorrow. I asked how small? She said just you, me and the principal.
I usually don’t brag about my finances, but my credit card company calls me almost every day to tell me my balance is outstanding.
