Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful

Every time I look up and think wow it’s another holiday and then I think that year sure went fast.

I stay extremely busy, but it’s my nature and at least during the day I don’t like idle time. If you are a farmer-rancher or cattleman you can always find plenty to do. The older we get it seems the faster time goes. Our short stay on earth is a mere blinking of an eye compared to eternity. All of us need to evaluate that.

This week is Thanksgiving. For many families it’s a fun time to get together—eat, watch your favorite sports team and then probably eat more. Ask yourself, why was I allowed to be born in America with all these freedoms and many others in the world did not. Why was I allowed to have good parents who taught us to be honest work hard and go to church? Why was I allowed to be raised on a farm and could have been raised in a big city in the middle of gangs and corruption?

I don’t know the answer to these questions, but I do know that I should tell God thank you and remind my kids and family to do the same. Let’s never take all these freedoms for granted as we do have quite a lot of people living in America that don’t appreciate it and want to destroy it, in my opinion.

I know I have many issues I need to work on. This year let’s all try to be happier and make those around us happy too. If you know someone who is by himself or herself this holiday invite him or her over or take them something to eat. I remember a few years ago stopping for a few minutes to talk to an elderly man. When I said, “I have got to go,” he thanked me for stopping and talking to him. It wasn’t that I was special it was the fact that someone stopped to talk to him.

When is turkey bad for your health? When you were the turkey.

Do you know which side of the turkey has more feathers? The outside stoop.

A policeman told me he dreaded Thanksgiving because he’s afraid there will be fowl play.

I hope you are eating beef instead of turkey this Thanksgiving, but if you must eat turkey this one time gobble it up then go eat a steak and tell me which one you like better. You don’t have to tell me I already know.
