High Plains Slaughter Report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Dec. 21, reported receipts of 26,095 head compared to 75,455 head a week ago and 38,745 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 9,786 head, 1,275 to 1,725 lbs., 227.00 to 228.00 (228.00); 65 to 80% Choice, 261 head, 1,300 to 1,425 lbs., 220.00 to 229.00 (227.03). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 340 head, 1,525 to 1,600 lbs., 229.00 to 230.00 (229.90). Dressed delivered, over 80% Choice, 7,134 head, 853 to 1,128 lbs., 355.00 to 363.00 (357.12); 65 to 80% Choice, 53 head, 959 lbs., 356.00. Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 558 head, 945 to 1,048, 354.00 to 358.00 (357.53).

Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 3,393 head, 1,280 to 1,550 lbs. 226.00 to 230.00 (227.90); 65 to 80% Choice, 412 head, 1,250 lbs., 229.00. Live delivered, 40 head, 1,300 lbs., 229.50. Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 1,672 head, 832 to 903 lbs., 354.00 to 358.00 (357.25).
