Kansas—This past week, compared to the last report, market conditions were largely steady with limited overall change observed. The market tone was slightly softer. Movement of hay was light to moderate, with fewer transactions reported compared to last week. Demand for hay remains present, however, current price levels are limiting trading activity and constraining movement., according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Feb. 14.

Southwest—Demand light to moderate. Trade slow to moderate. Alfalfa and grass hay, all steady. Alfalfa: Dairy, $0.90-$0.95/point RFV. Good quality, stock or dry cow $120-$130. Fair/good, grinding alfalfa, large round and large square 3×4 $115-$125. Ground and delivered locally to feed lots and dairies $145-$155. Alfalfa pellets: Sun cured 15 and 17% protein $230. Grass Hay: Bluestem, large square 3×4 $90 delivered. Brome, large square 3×4 $160 delivered. Teff, large round $135 delivered. The week of Feb. 8- Feb. 14, 3,328 ton of grinding alfalfa, 530 ton of dairy alfalfa, and 299 ton of grass hay was reported bought or sold.

South central—Demand light to moderate. Trade slow to moderate. Alfalfa and grass hay, all steady. Alfalfa: Dairy $0.95-$1/point RFV. Horse hay, small square $14.50-$16.50/bale. Good quality, stock or dry cow, $130-$140, delivered. Fair/good, grinding alfalfa large round and large square 3×4 $105-$115. Alfalfa ground and delivered $140-$150. Alfalfa pellets: Sun cured 15% protein $215–$220, 17% dehydrated $335. Grass Hay: Bluestem, small square $8-$10/bale, medium square 3×3 $120, large square 3×4 $65-$75, large round $95 delivered. Brome, none reported. Wheat straw, large round and large square 3×4 $75-$85. The week of Feb. 8- Feb. 14, 7,351 ton of grinding alfalfa, 425T of dairy alfalfa, and 315 ton of grass hay was reported bought or sold.

Southeast—Demand light to moderate. Trade slow to moderate. Dairy alfalfa and stock cow, steady. Grinding alfalfa and large round prairie hay $5 lower. Alfalfa: Dairy, $0.90-$1/point RFV. Good, stock or dry cow, $155-$165. Fair/good grinding alfalfa, large square 3×4 $100–$110. Grass Hay: Bluestem, large round $80-$90, large square 3×4 $95-$105, small squares $160-$170. Brome, large square 3×4 $140-150, small square $190-$200. Wheat straw, round $70. The week of Feb. 8- Feb. 14, 1,610 ton of grass hay, 225 ton of grinding alfalfa, and 50 ton of dairy alfalfa was reported bought or sold.

Northwest—Demand light. Trade activity slow. Dairy alfalfa $1-$1.05/point RFV. Good, stock or dry cow, $100-$125. Fair/good grinding alfalfa, large round and large square 3×4 $100-$110 delivered. Premium alfalfa, medium square 3×3 $250-$275, small square $295-$305.

North central/northeast—Demand light to moderate. Trade activity slow to moderate. Alfalfa and grass hay, all steady. Alfalfa: Dairy $.90-$1/point RFV; Good, stock or dry cow, none reported. Fair/good, grinding alfalfa, large round and large square 3×4 $90-$100 delivered. Premium alfalfa, medium square 3×3 $210-$220. Alfalfa ground and delivered $135-$145. Grass Hay: Bluestem, large round $85-$95, small square $9/bale. Brome, large round $130-$150. Sorghum, large round $80, delivered. Wheat straw, large square $95-$105. The week of Feb. 8- Feb. 14, 570 ton of grinding alfalfa, 125 ton of dairy alfalfa, and 552 ton of grass hay was reported bought or sold.
