High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending March 15, reported receipts of 35,314 head compared to 61,677 head a week ago and 64,596 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 10,142 head, 1,400 to 1,725 lbs., 233.00 to 236.00 (234.80); 65 to 80% Choice, 553 head, 1,400 to 1,730 lbs., 235.00; 35 to 65% Choice, 309 head, 1,350 lbs., 235.50. Live delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 1,387 head, 1,475 to 1,600 lbs., 236.00 to 240.00 (239,27). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 11,186 head, 837 to 1,097 lbs., 372.00 to 375.00 (372.64); 65 to 80% Choice, 224 head, 960 to 1,073 lbs., 372,00.

Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 4,589 head, 1,250 to 1,600 lbs., 233.00 to 236.00 (235.01). 65 to 80% Choice, 1,464 head, 1,285 to 1,485 lbs. 233.00 to 235.50 (234.76). Live delivered basis, 224 head, 1,300 to 1,375 lbs., 236,50 to 240.00 (237.83). Dressed delivered, over 80% Choice, 1,290 head, 857 to 992 lbs., 372,00.
