Agtrinsic launches AI disease intelligence engine for crop disease risk management
Agtrinsic, based in Bloomington, Illinois, recently announced the launch of its Disease Intelligence Engine, an artificial intelligence platform designed to support crop disease risk prediction and management across production agriculture.
The working models have been tested throughout the 2026 growing season under commercial field conditions across central Illinois. The company said results to date have demonstrated predictive accuracy and earlier insight into changing disease conditions compared with traditional forecasting approaches.
For decades, crop disease prediction has relied heavily on the disease triangle, historical weather patterns, fixed environmental thresholds and visible field symptoms. Agtrinsic’s technology takes a different approach to disease intelligence.
The Disease Intelligence Engine creates a continuously updated view of disease risk as field conditions change. The platform is designed to help growers, agronomists and agricultural organizations identify emerging threats sooner, prioritize scouting and make more timely crop protection decisions.
“We did not set out to make a minor improvement to our currently patented disease modeling,” said Scott Plato, director of agronomy innovation and technology. “We set out to rethink how crop disease should be predicted. Disease is dynamic, and the intelligence used to manage it should be dynamic as well. This technology is designed to support more autonomous decision-making by enabling agricultural systems to continuously assess risk and help determine appropriate actions over time.”
Agtrinsic said the technology could help shift crop disease management from a largely periodic and reactive process toward a more predictive and continuously informed approach.
“Our goal is to give agriculture more time to act and greater confidence in what action to take,” said Matt Free, vice president of agronomy. “This technology has the potential to influence how the industry identifies risk, deploys scouting resources and executes crop protection decisions.”
The Disease Intelligence Engine is designed to support multiple crops, diseases, geographies and production systems. Agtrinsic expects it to serve as a foundation for future grower applications, enterprise platforms, industry integrations and strategic partnerships.
The technology is the subject of pending U.S. and international patent applications.
