New Mexico State University has named Jon Boren interim dean of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, following the retirement of Rolando A. Flores Galarza.
NMSU Provost Joseph Bull announced Boren’s appointment in a memo to college staff on Sept. 1. Bull said Boren was picked through a selection process that included feedback and nominations from ACES staff and faculty.
Boren joined NMSU in 1996 as a faculty member and Extension wildlife specialist. He has held numerous leadership roles within the College of ACES, having most recently served as an associate dean and director of the NMSU Cooperative Extension Service since 2008. Galarza retired Aug. 31 after more than 10 years as dean.
