High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending May 18, reported receipts of 69,772 head compared to 69,506 head a week ago and 78,754 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 24,677 head, 1,300 to 1,675 lbs., 218.00 to 231.00 (228.01); 65 to 80% Choice, 3,131 head, 1,275 to 1,575 lbs., 218.00 to 229.00 (221.23); 35 to 65% Choice, 3,422 head, 1,275 to 1,470 lbs., 218.00 to 220.00 (219.92).
