Georgia livestock auction summary

The summary of livestock auctions in Georgia for the week ending Oct. 12, totaled 6,273 head selling, compared to 8,925 head a week ago and 8,219 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Georgia.

Compared to a week ago, slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were selling steady to $3 lower, feeder steers and feeder bulls were selling steady to $1 lower, steer calves and bull calves were selling unevenly steady, feeder heifers and heifer calves were selling steady to $2 lower, replacement cows were selling steady to $2 higher. Receipts were light due to weather conditions. The offering included 9% steers slaughter cows, 2% slaughter bulls, 13% feeders over 600 pounds, 67% feeders under 600 pounds, 9% feeder cows, 10% feeder steers, 32% feeder heifers and 38% feeder bulls.
