Arkansas livestock auction summary

The summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas for the week ending April 13, showed estimated receipts of 8,270 head selling, compared to 7,810 head a week ago and 10,260 head last year, according to the USDA-Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling $2 to $8 higher. Feeder heifers were selling $2 to $6 higher. Slaughter cows were selling steady to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling $1 lower. The supply included 5,170 stocker and feeder calves, 1,295 feeder yearlings, 845 replacement cows, 810 slaughter cows and 150 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 46% yearling heifers.
