Ft. Smith livestock auction report

The Ft. Smith Stockyards, Ft. Smith, Arkansas, reported receipts of 450 head selling on Feb. 26, compared to 1,632 head a week ago and 685 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling $1 to $10 higher with the largest advance on 400 to 600 pound weights. Feeder heifers under 500 pounds were selling $2 to $5 lower, over 500 pounds were selling $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling $3 to $4 higher. The supply included 244 feeder calves, 112 feeder yearlings, 39 replacement cows, 45 slaughter cows and 10 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 48% steers, 42% heifers and 10% bulls, nearly 36% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
