Arkansas livestock auction report

The summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas for the week ending Oct. 12, showed estimated receipts of 8,405 head selling, compared to 9,145 head a week ago and 10,585 head last year, according to the USDA-Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling mostly steady to $4 lower, with instances selling $10 to $15 lower. Feeder heifers under 650 pounds were selling $2 to $7 lower, over 650 pounds were selling $1 higher. Slaughter cows were selling steady. Slaughter bulls were selling steady. The supply included 5,590 stocker and feeder calves, 1,440 feeder yearlings, 325 replacement cows, 970 slaughter cows and 80 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 40% yearling heifers.
