Arkansas livestock auction summary

The summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas for the week ending Sept. 7, showed estimated receipts of 2,410 head selling, compared to 4,870 head a week ago and 4,960 head last year, according to the USDA-Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling steady to $8 lower, except 600 to 700 pounds were selling $3 to $5 higher. Feeder heifers were selling $3 to $8 lower, instances trading $12 to $13 lower. Slaughter cows were selling mostly steady. Slaughter bulls were selling $2 lower. The supply included 1,700 stocker and feeder calves, 450 feeder yearlings, 45 replacement cows, 175 slaughter cows and 40 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 40% yearling heifers.
