Ada livestock auction report
The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,400 head selling on March 14, compared to 2,466 head a week ago and 1,397 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves under 400 pounds were selling steady. Steers over 400 pounds were selling $3 to $5 lower, heifers were selling $4 to $6 lower. Demand was good for lighter calves, moderate for stockers and feeder cattle. Overall quality was plain to average. A large supply of new crop calves were once again offered this week. Heifers made up 46% of supply and cattle over 600 pounds 20%.
