Ada livestock auction report
The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Oklahoma, reported estimated receipts of 2,200 head selling on Aug. 1, compared to 2,546 head a week ago and 1,729 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves were selling mostly steady, yearlings were not tested. Demand was good for all calves but best for long to weaned offerings. Overall quality was plain to average and a good percentage were short to weaned. Recent rains have improved grazing in parts of the trade area while other areas saw drought conditions worsen. Heifers made up 39% and cattle over 600 pounds 31% of the supply.
