Ada livestock auction report
The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Oklahoma, reported estimated receipts of 3,100 head selling on Oct. 3, compared to 2,864 head a week ago and 2,219 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves were mostly selling $2 to $4 lower, late sales were up to $6 lower. Heifer calves were selling mostly $3 to $6 lower with late sales up to $8 lower. Demand was mostly moderate with light demand for unweaned and short weaned calves. Quality was plain to average. Lack of wheat pasture orders attributed to slow developing wheat and army worm damage in many developing fields. Heifers made up 35% and cattle over 600 pounds 24% of supply.
