Ada livestock auction report
The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 2,850 head selling on Sept. 26, compared to 2,367 head a week ago and 3,047 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves under 500 pounds were selling steady to $2 higher, over 500 pounds were selling $2 to $3 higher. Heifer calves were selling $3 to $6 higher. Demand was good for all offerings, especially good on heifers. Overall quality was average to attractive with several large packages of weaned calves. Additional rainfall this week hindered wheat planting but demand for grazing calves didn’t show any weakening. Heifers made up 44% and cattle over 600 pounds 21% of the supply.
