Ada livestock auction report
The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,300 head selling on Sept. 5, compared to 2,321 head a week ago and 1,580 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves were selling fully steady on comparable sales. Demand was good for weaned calves, moderate for unweaned calves. Overall quality mostly average. Rains have moved into the trade area limiting movement of cattle but very encouraging to producers. Heifers made up 44% and cattle over 600 pounds 20% of the supply.
