Tulia Livestock Auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction, Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,943 head selling on Sept. 20, compared to 1,889 head a week ago and 2,221 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were selling $2 to $3 higher. Trade was active on good demand. CME cattle futures remained strong and fat cattle traded higher later in the week which boosted spirits. Slaughter cows and bulls were trading steady to $2 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 3%, less than 1% replacements and 97% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 45% steers and bulls, 55% heifers. Nearly 59% of the offerings weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 371 lbs., 190.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 169.00 to 185.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 145.00 to 164.00; 600 to 700 lb. calves of full 144.50 to 150.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 155.25 to 162.50, few 736 lbs., full 147.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 150.50 to 153.50, few 801 lbs., fleshy 124.50.
