Amarillo Livestock Auction report

The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,202 head selling on June 4, compared to 340 head May 21 and 1,796 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to the May 21 sale, there were not enough feeder cattle sales in previous weeks for a market trend. Trade was fairly active on moderate to good demand. Slaughter cows and bulls traded fully steady. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 11%, 1% replacements and 88% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 49% steers and bulls, 51% heifers. Nearly 67% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 323 lbs., 170.00; few 415 lbs., 169.00; lot 728 lbs., 143.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 126.00 to 134.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 450 to 500 lbs., 148.50 to 156.50; lot 532 lbs., 146.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 142.00 to 151.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 128.00 to 129.00. Holstein steers, large frame 3, 300 to 400 lbs., 42.00 to 43.00; lot 498 lbs., 56.50.
