Winter Livestock Auction report
The Winter Livestock Auction, Dodge City, Kansas, reported receipts of 1,975 head Sept. 26, compared to 2,934 head a week ago and 1,403 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 850 to 900 pounds were selling $1 to $3 lower. All other comparable weights were selling steady to firm. There were very few feeder heifer offerings. On limited comparable weights, 700 to 750 pounds were selling $1 to $3 lower, 850 to 900 pounds were selling $5 to $7 lower. Steer and heifer calves were selling steady to slightly higher on few comparable weights. Demand was good to very good. Quality was average to mostly attractive. Slaughter cow and bull offerings were selling steady to $1 higher. The feeder supply was 73% steers, 27% heifers, with 88% over 600 pounds.
