Philip Livestock Auction report
The Philip Livestock Auction, Philip, South Dakota, reported receipts of 2,383 head selling on Sept. 11, compared to 1,882 head Aug. 28 and 4,388 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
There was no feeder cattle sale a week ago, therefore comparisons are being made from Aug. 28 sale. Feeder steers 800 to 1000 pounds were selling $3 to $5 higher, 1000 to 1050 pounds were selling $1 higher. Feeder heifers 750 to 850 pounds were selling $1 to $3 higher, 850 to 950 pounds were selling $4 to $5 higher, and 950 to 1050 pounds were trading steady to $3 higher. The offering included 79% of receipts were feeder cattle, the balance was slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder cattle offering included 39% steers, 61% heifers, 100% over 600 pounds.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 714 lbs., 156.00; 5 head, 750 lbs., 152.00; 9 head, 871 lbs., 148.50. Large frame 1, 7 head, 860 lbs., 144.00; 1037 to 1040 lbs., 141.00; 1053 to 1071 lbs., 128.00 to 139.00 (137.83).
