Salina livestock auction report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 1,118 head selling on Sept. 6, compared to 3,449 head a week ago and 1,840 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a week ago, flooding in several counties, due to some much needed rain, was reflected in the receipts. Steers 500 to 900 were selling steady to $3 lower. Heifers 500 to 900 pounds were selling $2 to $5 lower. Trade and demand was moderate. The feeder supply was 52% steers and 48% heifers. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 88% (983).
