High Plains direct slaughter cattle sales report
High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Aug. 26, totaled 95,196 head selling compared to 101,210 head a week ago and 74,598 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.
The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.
Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 25,888 head, 1,250 to 1,550 lbs., 106.00 to 110.00 (109.07); 65 to 80% Choice, 16,658 head, 1,233 to 1,550 lbs., 106.50 to 109.50 (108.94); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,471 head, 1,218 to 1,430 lbs., 109.00. Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 12,444 head, 736 to 977 lbs., 170.00 to 174.00 (172.76); 65 to 80% Choice, 4,396 head, 831 to 977 lbs., 170.00 to 174.00 (172.89); 35 to 65% Choice, 270 head, 905 to 940 lbs., 170.00 to 173.00 (171.58). Dressed FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 71 head, 896 to 928 lbs., 170.00 to 172.00 (171.01).
