Over 60% of sorghum crops in Nebraska and Oklahoma in poor to very poor condition

For the week ending Oct. 23, USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service reported the following sorghum crop conditions.

Kansas: Sorghum condition rated 24% very poor, 31% poor, 30% fair, 14% good, and 1% excellent. Sorghum mature was 93%, near 92% last year and 91% average. Harvested was 53%, behind 59% last year, but ahead of 42% average

Colorado: Sorghum condition rated 5% very poor, 12% poor, 38% fair, 36% good, and 9% excellent.

Nebraska: Sorghum condition rated 40% very poor, 27% poor, 14% fair, 14% good, and 5% excellent. Sorghum mature was 93%, near 96% last year and 97% average. Harvested was 55%, behind 70% last year, but near 52% average.

South Dakota: Sorghum harvested was 68%, behind 78% last year, but well ahead of 47% average.

Oklahoma: Sorghum condition rated 31% very poor, 31% poor, 30% fair, 9% good, and 0% excellent. Sorghum harvested reached 55%, up 2 points from the previous year and up 1 point from normal.
