One southwest Kansas hay manager has found a way to make baling alfalfa a little easier. Kevin Melvin, hay manager for Morning Star Farms near Greensburg, Kansas, has been using a hay steamer manufactured by Utah-based Staheli West. The steamer allows operators to bale high-quality hay across a wide variety of environmental conditions by controlling the baling moisture. Watch this video of the hay steamer in action, and read more about Melvin’s operation in High Plains Journal Associate Editor Kylene Scott’s story “Right tools shave time off baling alfalfa” at bitly.com/BalingAlfalfa.
