Apache livestock auction report

The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,062 head Jan. 4, compared to 1,327 head selling on Dec. 21, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to Dec. 21 sale, feeder steers and heifers were selling $1 to $4 higher. Steer and heifer calves were selling $2 to $4 higher. Quality was fair to attractive with good demand. The supply included 66% over 600 pounds and 38% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling $4 higher. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 142 cows and bulls sold with 75% going to packers.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 years old, 1050 lbs., with 125-lb. calves, average quality 1350.00.
