Amarillo Livestock Auction summary
The Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,015 head on Jan. 15, compared to 1,211 head last week, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, the feeder steers and heifers were steady to $3 lower. The trade was active on good demand. The trading area remains dry with roller coaster temperatures and no moisture in sight. Several loads of reputation yearling steers and heifers were selling in the offering. The slaughter cows and bulls made up 6% of the stock, 1% were replacements and 93% were feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 65% steers and bulls and 35% was heifers. Nearly 82% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
