The Winter Livestock Feeder Cattle Auction, Dodge City, Kansas, reported receipts of 1,571 head selling on Jan. 17, compared to 4,611 head a week ago and 6,385 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 600 to 800 pounds were selling steady to $6 higher on a light test of medium and large frame 1. Feeder heifers 600 to 850 pounds were selling steady to $3 higher on a light supply. Steer and heifer calves were selling $5 to $10 higher on a light test. Trade was slow and demand good. The feeder supply was 57% steers, 43% heifers and 80% 600 pounds and over. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling steady on a light test.
