Apache Livestock Auction report
The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 920 head on Jan. 18, compared to 1,963 head last week and 1,250 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, the feeder steers were selling $6 to $8 higher. The feeder heifers were selling $5 to $10 higher. The steer and heifer calves were selling $5 to $10 higher. The quality was good to attractive with several sets of fancy feeders off wheat pasture and they were selling to very good demand. The supply included 56% weighing over 600 pounds and 43% was heifers. The slaughter cows were steady. The slaughter bulls were selling $1 lower. The packer demand was moderate. A total of 73 cows and bulls was sold with 70% going to packers.
