Tama Feeder Cattle Auction report
The Tama Feeder Cattle Auction, Tama, Iowa, reported receipts of 1,822 head selling on Jan. 19, compared to 2,497 head a week ago, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa.
This was a special pre-conditioned calf sale. Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 550 to 649 pounds were selling $9.50 to $10 higher, 650 to 950 pounds were selling $1.50 to $3 higher. Feeder heifers 500 to 749 pounds were selling $2.50 to $4.50 higher, 750 to 849 pounds were selling steady to $1 lower. Trade was active. Demand was good. The supply consisted of 60.3% feeder steers, 39.7% feeder heifers and 84% were over 600 pounds.
