Keoco cattle auction report
The Keoco Livestock Auction, Sigourney, Iowa, reported receipts of 861 head on Jan. 22, compared to 2,811 head two weeks ago and 870 head last year, according to the USDA-Iowa Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Des Moines, Iowa.
Compared to the last sale reported two weeks ago, the steer calves weighing under 500 pounds with a limited test were selling $10 lower, those 500 to 750 pounds were selling $5 to $10 higher with full advance on 550-to 650-pound feeders and those 750- to 850-pound feeders were mostly steady. The heifer calves under 500 pounds with a limited test were selling $3 lower, those 500 to 750 pounds were mostly selling $4 to $8 higher and those 750 to 800 pounds were steady. The trade was active with mostly good demand. The receipts included 75.5% over 600 pounds, with 46.2% steers and 53.8% was heifers.
