Apache Livestock Auction report
The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 2,323 head selling on Jan. 25, compared to 920 head a week ago and 2,020 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers weighing 600 to 700 pounds were selling steady to $5 higher, while 800 pounds were selling $3 lower. Feeder heifers were selling $1 to $3 lower. Steer calves were selling $6 to $9 higher, while heifer calves were selling $6 to $7 higher. Quality was fair to attractive with good demand. The supply included 55% over 600 pounds and 37% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $1 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling $2 higher. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 186 cows and bulls sold with 48% going to packers.

Replacement cows: All were pre-tested for bangs, pregnancy and age. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 to 6 years old, 1075 to 1300 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, high quality 1075.00 to 1275.00; 7 to 10 years old, 1050 to 1325 lbs., 5 to 8 month bred, average quality 835.00 to 1010.00.
