Apache Livestock Auction report

The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 2,146 head selling on May 24, compared to 1,432 head a week ago and 1,685 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were selling $1 to $3 higher. Steer and heifer calves were selling unevenly steady on a limited test. Quality was fair to good with moderate demand. The supply included 76% over 600 pounds and 52% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling steady to $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling $1 to $2 higher. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 240 cows and bulls sold with 71% going to packers.
