High Plains average direct slaughter cattle sales

High Plains weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Jan. 28, totaled selling 118,367 head, compared to 85,151 head a week ago and 86,468 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% choice, 15,343 head, 1,270 to 1,600 lbs., 121.00 to 129.00 (126.21); 65 to 80% choice, 26,795 head, 1,265 to 1,555 lbs., 123.00 to 127.00 (126.64); 35 to 65% choice, 4,739 head, 1,135 to 1,425 lbs., 125.00 to 127.00 (126.24).
