Springfield cattle market report
The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Missouri, reported receipts of 1,915 head on Jan. 31, compared to 2,604 head last week and 1,660 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Compared to a week ago, the steers weighing under 750 pounds and heifers under 700 pounds were steady with steers over 750 pounds and heifers over 700 pounds were steady to $3 lower. The demand was moderate to good and the supply was moderate. The dry weather and moderated temperatures has been good for marketing and feeding cattle. The feeder cattle supply included 49% steers, 1% was dairy steers, 43% was heifers and 8% was bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 48%.
