Denison Feeder Cattle Auction report
The Denison Feeder Cattle Auction, Denison, Iowa, reported receipts of 2,312 head selling on Feb. 1, compared to 2,081 head a week ago and 2,296 head last year, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa.
This was the Western Iowa Pre-condition Feeder Calf Sale. Trends compared to the sale a week ago were steady to a little lower on cattle under 600 pounds and cattle over 600 pounds were selling $2 to $7 higher. Trade was moderate to strong on this offering, which was steady compared to a week ago. Receipts included 66% steers and 34% heifers, with 81% cattle over 600 pounds, 57% steers and 24% heifers.
