High Plains direct slaughter cattle sales report

High Plains weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending March 4, totaled 89,488 head selling, compared to 92,517 head a week ago and 140,548 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% choice, 14,031 head, 1,225 to 1,625 lbs., 125.00 to 130.00 (127.39); 65 to 80% choice, 11,750 head, 1,180 to 1,565 lbs., 126.00 to 127.00 (126.31); 35 to 65% choice, 5,324 head, 1,100 to 1,400 lbs., 126.00 to 126.50 (126.10).
