Springfield dairy heifer sale
The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Missouri, reported receipts of 596 head selling on March 27, compared to 755 head a month ago and 950 head a year ago, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Springfield, Missouri.
The light supply included a small herd dispersal and the demand was moderate. There were 10% springer heifers, 04% bred heifers, 18% open heifers, 09% fresh and milking cows, 02% bred and springer cows and 10% baby calves. The balance was steers, bulls and slaughter cows. Prices reported are on a per head basis and for Holsteins unless noted otherwise.
Springer heifers: Bred seven to nine months, supreme to 1175.00 to 1235.00. Approved 900.00 to 1150.00, crossbreds 925.00 to 1000.00. Medium 635.00 to 850.00, few Jerseys 775.00 to 800.00, few crossbreds 675.00 to 775.00. Common individual 450.00. Heifers bred three to six months, supreme 1025.00 to 1225.00. Approved 810.00 to 900.00, Jerseys 850.00 to 1000.00, crossbreds 800.00 to 975.00. Medium 600.00 to 725.00, Jerseys 725.00 to 800.00, few crossbreds 600.00. Common individual 380.00.
