Apache Livestock Auction report

The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 519 head selling on March 29, compared to 1,341 head a week ago and 1,328 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, feeder cattle and calves were not well tested. Sharply lower market and rains in the trade area limited receipts a week ago. The supply included 69% over 600 pounds and 24% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling steady to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling steady. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 123 cows and bulls sold with 48% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 405 lbs., 182.50; 7 head, 553 to 565 lbs., 163.00 to 171.00 (168.75); 23 head, 613 lbs., 158.75; 6 head, 687 lbs., 142.00; 5 head, 808 lbs., 131.50; 30 head, 862 lbs., 124.00; 30 head, 995 lbs., 118.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 50 head, 731 lbs., 140.00.

Replacement cows: All were pre-tested for pregnancy and age. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 to 7 years old, 900 to 1250 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality 875.00 to 1035.00; 7 to 10 years old, 1000 to 1150 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average quality 725.00 to 885.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 to 6 years old, 950 to 1200 lbs., with 125- to 250-lb. calves, average quality 1175.00 to 1210.00; 7 to 10 years old. 850 to 1000 lbs., with 75- to 100-lb. calves, average quality 835.00 to 1000.00.
