Sheep and goat meeting will be April 17 in Parsons

K-State Research & Extension’s Wildcat District is hosting a meeting that will focus on managing sheep and goats. The meeting will be held on April 17 at the Southeast Research and Extension Center, located at 25092 Ness Road in Parsons. This event will begin with registration at 6:30 p.m. with the program set to begin at 6:45 p.m.

Woodson County extension agent, Dale Lanham will start the program with a presentation on managing predators. Next, on the agenda is Joan Burke a research animal scientist at the Dale Bumpers Small Farm Research Center, near Booneville, Arkansas. Burke will tackle the issue of managing parasites in sheep and goats as well as managing resistance to sheep and goat wormers. The meeting will end with a question and answer discussion featuring sheep and goat auction managers on ways producers can market their animals more effectively.
